For 40 years, the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia (BHMVA) had promoted and advanced understanding of the history and culture of Black and African American leaders and communities of Virginia.

To honor this milestone and inflection  point, our cornerstone of our 40th anniversary will be a six-month long exhibition curated from BHMVA’s first four decades. The exhibition – Forging Freedom and Justice and Equality – will explore vital themes of Black history in culture across the Commonwealth.

This exhibition will be on display until April 29, 2023.
