This is the story of the transformation of the land and the generations of people from the days of slavery on a plantation, into two schools (1895- 1972) of higher learning for young African American boys and girls. Deep in the heart of the Confederacy. Walker’s lecture will focus on his experiences as a St. Emma Cadet, class of ’65, and his research while writing the book, The Black Military Academy on the James River. Walker says, “There are so many stories, by so many of us that know.”
