June is Black Music Month. Jazz is an American Art, it is the Rhythm of Evolution. Jazz is the beat of a modern era. This lecture will focus on the legacy of Virginia’s role in the development of jazz – From the Early rhythms of the music’s birth to the vibration of its modern swing. BJ Brown from the Jazz Society will discuss Virginia’s role in developing jazz and share the accomplishments of artists from Virginia that are recognized nationally and internationally.
